The MG002WR Mobile Grip 2 Universal Smartphone Holder fits on all Arkon 17mm ball mounting pedestals (not included, sold separately) and holds all smartphones, including the Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, iPhone 6S Plus and 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, 6, 5S, and SE, Samsung Galaxy S7, S6, and S5, Galaxy Note 5, and Note 4, Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 5, HTC One M9, One M8, and One Max, Nokia Lumia 1020 and 1520, and Motorola Moto G and Moto X. The Mobile Grip 2 Holder features a spring-loaded mechanism that expands to fit all smartphones (even those with skins and ruggedized cases) up to 3.6” wide and makes it easy to insert or remove the smartphone from the holder with one hand. The holder is just 1.4” high, and is ideal for those who prefer a smaller profile. This simplistic yet effective design keeps rear smartphone cameras free for spontaneous picture taking while in the holder. The Mobile Grip 2 Universal Smartphone Holder is compatible with all Arkon 17mm mounting pedestals to create a mount solution that’s perfect for your needs. The holder is easy to install. Just snap it on and use the included tightening ring to secure. Remove the rubber insert on the side of the Mobile Grip 2 Holder to reveal an industry-standard 1/4”-20 threaded mounting pattern for use directly on camera tripods, a handy feature that provides additional versatility. For complete mount solutions, choose from Arkon’s popular sticky suction mount (Model MG279) or 11” flexible tripod mount (Model MG2TRIXL).
This is a perfect mount for large phones like the iPhone 6S Plus. The grip is firm, but not too difficult or stiff to open. Many other mounts use a clicky racheting gear system with a button that "pops" the mount open.I've found over the years that these types of mounts eventually breakdown, since the soft plastic gears always wear down and start slipping. This mount doesn't have multiple moving parts. There is an internal spring that provides clamping force. This much simpler design is much more secure and long lasting. The mount clamps securely and provides even pressure that keeps the phone from rattling. The gripping arms are made of a firm, but soft rubber or silicone compound that is non-marring.All in all a very high quality mount.
I’ve owned this grip along with the base for about 2 years then the rubber arm ripped. The replacement was relatively inexpensive and lasted me a while so I recommend it.
The phone grabber part sticks out more than other brands and wasn't as stiff, which made it a tad more difficult to get the phone in and out of the holder, as I usually try to do this with one hand.
