If you’re searching for great value in a classic diver-look watch, look no further than the MRW200 from Casio. Its 44.6mm face and large indexes provide at-a-glance information. Couple this with a bi-directional rotating bezel and 100 meter water resistance and you’ve got a timepiece that’s easy-to-read, simple-to-use and durable. Black resin band analog watch with a black face.

This is a well made, comfortable, functional, and affordable watch. I have dive watches, "dress watches," and plastic/rubber/silicone watches that I wear at various times. This is by far my favorite in the plastic watch category, and I have quite a few different makes and models. Easy to read face, useful bezel (for elapsed time, direction, etc.), day and date function, beautiful contrast between the black face and white letters, lightweight, water resistant, and very reasonably priced. The watch has a lume but it's pretty weak. If that's a must-have you'll probably be disappointed. I think this watch has so many positive features that the weak lume is acceptable for me. It's a great looking casual knockabout watch from a very reputable watchmaker (Casio) and is a real bargain. Highly recommend. My wife has the women's version (smaller case) in shiny white with multi-colored numbers on the face and it is amazingly beautiful and just as functional as mine. That is also available on Amazon.

This watch, made in China to a Japanese design, is reminiscent of the first diver's watch I bought in 1976. No frills in appearance, no complex controls, just one knob to control its features, and even more astonishing, instructions that are clear and concise (on the same sheet of paper those instructions are repeated in an astonishing variety of languages but I guess that's what "made in China" is all about today.) It has a battery powered quartz movement, which is different from the mechanical "self winding" innards of the 1976 watch, but not better nor worse; it's much more accurate but the battery will need occasional replacement. It is analog, while watches I've owned since 1976 have been either wholly or partially digital. I believe, over 40 years of experience, that if you've learned to "tell time" on an analog dial, as all children had to in grade school in my time, analog is better. When you look at the analog face and see that it's 5 minutes to 8 you'll know at once that you'd better hurry, while with a digital you'll look at it and say, relax, it's only 7:55 and I don't have to be there till 8. It's human nature. If you want a stopwatch or to time things to the second, you'll need a digital, or a much more expensive analog with additional dials.Having worn the watch for a while I've come to appreciate that it's actually improved over the originals. The numbers are exceptionally clear and readable -- a huge benefit for those whose vision is, well, not what it used to be. Having the 24-hour military time numbers for PM shown in a much smaller font inside the 12-hour numbers is a huge benefit, doing away with the 12-24 toggle which has been a feature of every digital watch I've had. The rotating timer bezel turns in both directions, while I can remember diver's watches where you could only spin it one way, requiring lots of turning if the index setting needed to be the other way by 5 minutes. The day of the week and date window are just like in 1976 -- a rectangle where the "3" would be if the window wasn't there. The day and date are small but very legible. My previous diver's watches have been down to about 30 feet both with Scuba gear and free swimming. They have ridden on various boats and sailboards even more often, where I expected mere splash resistance would be enough. Through the 40 years there was only one water-leakage failure. So, when the manufacturer says it's rated to 100 m submergence, I think it is probably suitable for all water sports including Scuba diving up to the point where decompression stops are required; deeper than that it might be advisable to buy a fancier timepiece.I no longer dive, but I think the traditional styling is pleasant for casual wear as well. That it won't be destroyed if you wear it for a swim is a bonus. It's a watch. It tells time. It does not synch to the GPS time signal nor tell you where you are. It can't alert rescuers to come save you if you fall and break your ankle while walking the Appalachian Trail. But, it costs a tenth of what the wrist devices that do those things do, and its operation is easy to learn. It doesn't come with a 100-page manual, nor do you have to watch a YouTube video to learn how to work it if you can't find that manual. So except that its visibility at night is only adequate, I think it's an excellent performer and economical, too.
