This thing works!I've been hesitant ever buying one of these things because I never really thought they'd be that good.I've been trying to be better at saving money buying certain things in bulk and figured why not give this thing a try and see if it helps me out.I'm glad I did.I bought this one sale with a few rolls of bag film so that I could make my own size bags as needed. It has been a blast to use, and so far seem to do a fantastic job at what it is meant to do - SEAL the bags.I've packaged all kinds of meat (steak, burger, fish, chicken, turkey and pork). Not one issue with any of them.I've also packaged some things on a more temporary basis like vegetables just to see if it helped me extend their life - and it has.My freezer is now well stocked with proteins, and my fridge has a drawer full of fresh veggies that I indulge on when they are on sale and now can actually use before they go bad. Now, for the bad things about this unit - which I assume will be similar to ANY piece of equipment meant to do this same thing.1) Make sure you dry out the inner part of the bag after you fill it where the seal is going to be.Even the slightest bit of moisture will prevent a good quality seal.Just do it, even if you don't think you need to.2) The bag cutter works, but it's not the best in the world.Make sure you line it up straight, hold it down tight, and slowly cut across. No quick actions here, it's not a paper cutter!Be careful, and it works well.3) Give it a rest period on large jobs.It does get hot and if you're filling 10 bags quickly it becomes hotter than I would like it to.Just give it a minute to cool down and I'm sure it will last a long time.I have never had it overheat, or stop working, I just noticed that it was warmer to the touch than I liked after abusing it with a counter full of steaks.4) Clean it!It is a vacuum after all, and there is a possibility it sucks out some juice as it goes.I've only noticed a drop in the tray with all the meat I've done, but it was chicken juice and I wouldn't want that staying in there uncleaned. There is a small concaved chamber behind the sealer - just check it and make sure it's clean. You'll be happy you spent the 1.5 seconds to do so.5) Not necessary, but I do with it came with a bag, or a case of some kind.Just to minimize any clutter.Definitely not a deal breaker, but just an idea for an upgraded model maybe :)All in all, I love it and wish I would have gotten one a lot earlier.
I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this vacuum sealer. I've used it maybe a dozen times so far. And there's lots of things I've learned. The first thing, this thing works. It does exactly what it's supposed to do and it does it well. It's the only vacuum sealer that I found with a cutter on top of it, which is genius by the way. Any other vacuum sealer I found that includes a cutter, stored the vacuum sealer bag rolls and cutter on the inside, which makes them huge and impossible to store in a drawer.Because this vacuum sealer has the cutter on top, it has no need to store the roll on the inside, making it much more compact and easy to store away in a drawer when you don't need it. This is great for people like me who want to keep their space open, but prefer vacuum sealer bag rolls to pre-cut bags. You get the best of both. The only valid criticism I found for this vacuum sealer was about the buttons, yet the critics seemed to leave out the positives. The buttons are touch buttons and they are quite sensitive, so it's easy to touch them by accident, starting the machine suddenly when you don't want to. This is not a big deal. There is a clear stop button that stops any accidental action instantly. Or you can just leave the machine unplugged while you're cutting the bags. What I didn't see anybody mention, is how it's actually a positive that the controls are touch buttons. It makes them easy to clean with a wet, lightly-soapy sponge or paper towel, which is something you probably can't do too well with non-touch buttons. It's really nice when you're handling raw meats, and you don't want meat juice all over your buttons. In fact, this vacuum sealer is easy to clean in general. And I do recommend cleaning it.I also didn't see anybody mention that if you get food or crud on the heat strip, it can interfere with the sealing mechanism.I haven't had any seals fail so far, but I did find imperfections on the seal once. It looked like a bunch of pockmarks on melted into parts of the seal. I checked the heat strip and found that I had accidentally gotten salt grains on the heat strip and it was leaving imperfections in the seal. One wipe down and the seal was perfect again. The overall, there's lots of value here. The touch buttons, the compact nature of the vacuum sealer, the convenient cutter on top, and of course, the price, make the vacuum sealer smartly designed. It will fit in well in my kitchen.
Let’s start with the appearance: It’s nice, sleek, and for the most part compact. It has a nice cutter on the top which works really well. I use this when cutting my bags in half. The machine is pretty durable, especially for the cost. Now, my dislike: I’m packaging anywhere from 50-100 bags every few weeks. But, this machine makes me waste bags. It suctions and seals, then after a few minutes my bag is no longer suctioned. Just sealed. Some may take days to loose suction, but I’ve wasted over 40 bags.A customer emailed me letting me know there was no suction remaining in the bag, and my product was destroyed. For the most part the machine does what it’s supposed to do, but after packaging for several days and then realizing I need to REPACKAGE again it becomes very frustrating,Would I recommend? … yes, just not to someone who packages ALOT of products, because you will be wasting your money.Again, worth the cost, but comes with a headache.
